Powerful Voices for Kids In-School:A Professional Development Learning Community for Digital and Media Literacy
Russell Byers Charter School faculty and staff are participating with members of the Media Education Lab at Temple University and the Powerful Voices for Kids team in sharing and learning about our experiences using the Internet, video, games, drama, media, technology and other communication arts activities with children in Grades PK – 6. This professional development program uses a communities of practice model. Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly. Over the course of 5 sessions, we'll host an professional development learning community designed to allow participants to share ideas, develop new skills, discuss, share and create robust instructional approaches to teaching with and about technology and media with young children.
